Everything you do on the internet involves packet. For example,every web page that you receive come as a series of packets,and every email you send leave as a series of packets. Network that ship data around in small packets are called packet switched network.
A packet consist of control information and user data, which is also known as the payload. Control information provide data for delivering the payload for example source and destination IP address. And data is transmitted in the form of binary number. The process of converting data into binary and attachment of its control information and its vice-versa is done by Network Interface Card.
